THE EYE OF BASTET

Heirs of the gods BOOK 1

The Eye of Bastet is a story about how much of ourselves we’re willing to lose to save the people we love. And what’s left of an identity once faith, blood, and survival stop lining up.

Coming 18 September 2026
✨ Blurb

A goddess stripped of her past.
A woman robbed of her future.
A secret erasing Akhenaten's bloodline.

All Kefera wants is to forget and pretend. Forget the day her mother, the High Priestess of Bastet, was murdered when guards broke up a forbidden ceremony. Pretend she can live quietly, working in her father's House of Beer, and learn to love the man she is promised to.

But when her younger sister decides to unearth the Eye of Bastet and embrace her legacy as a priestess, Kefera is thrust into a race against time. She must save Maibe from the wrath of Aten's clergy and recover the diadem, the goddess's last talisman to survive Akhenaten's purge.

From Bastet's city to the Sun Disk's capital, where death shadows the royal family, Kefera discovers that finding the Eye is only the beginning. Between the oath she swore to her sister and the trust a frightened princess, Neferneferuaten Tasherit, places in her, every choice pulls her in two directions.

To set the Eye upon Maibe's brow, Kefera will have to betray something sacred.

In the end, it may be herself.

About Me

I’m an Italian-Australian author with a lifelong fascination for history, storytelling, and the forgotten voices of the past.

In 2013, while living in Portugal and surrounded by medieval castles, I created Storie di Storia, an Italian-language blog dedicated to history and historical fiction. What began as a way to share historical curiosities soon became a place where research and storytelling naturally came together.

In 2015, I moved to Queensland, Australia, where I made my fiction debut with a historical fantasy novel spanning multiple timelines: from 1st-century Galilee to 15th-century Constantinople, and finally to Egypt during the 2011 Arab Spring.
From there, my curiosity led me ever deeper into Ancient Egypt. I explored the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, then the mystery surrounding the young pharaoh’s death, and eventually found myself travelling further back through the Eighteenth Dynasty with every new story.

By 2026, I realised it was time to stop jumping backwards through history and build the series I’d always wanted to write.
That’s how Heirs of the Gods was born: a historical fiction saga that blends meticulous research with adventure, telling the story of Egypt’s Eighteenth Dynasty not only through pharaohs and legendary figures, but also through the ordinary people history rarely remembers: the beer-house maid, the tomb painter, the healer, the guardian of the necropolis, and countless others whose lives deserve to be told.

That same year, I also brought my passion for historical storytelling to Substack, launching History & Tales to share the research, discoveries, and fascinating historical details behind my novels with an international audience. Meanwhile, Storie di Storia continues its journey in Italian on Facebook, sharing history content with its community.

  Storie di Storia

If you’d like to explore the real people, beliefs, rituals, and events that inspired Heirs of the Gods, I’d love to have you join me on History & Tales. As a welcome gift, you’ll receive a complimentary copy of The Goldsmith of Bastet, the prequel novella to the series.
Ancient Egypt still has stories to tell, and I’m always digging for more.
